Training for Trainers - Your Questions

Supporting you to build your company's leadership capability!

This page provides answers to some of the most commonly asked questions relating to our "Training for Trainers" services. If you have a question that's not answered here, please call us at the one of our contact points

For which programs can I become accredited?

Blanchard International offers accreditation in a variety of our programs.  The most common programs in which people become accredited are:

  • Situational Leadership® II (regularly offered as a public program)
  • Situational Team Leadership (occasionally offered as a public program)
  • Situational Self Leadership

If the program for which you’re seeking accreditation isn’t listed, please call us to discuss your particular needs.  We’ve shown those that are offered as public programs, or we can arrange an accreditation for groups at your workplace.

What does accreditation mean ... exactly?

As an accredited Blanchard Facilitator, you are authorised to deliver your nominated program(s) as an employee of your company.  For example, if you are employed by “Fred’s Widgets” and are accredited in Situational Leadership® II, you can deliver that program to other employees of “Fred’s Widgets”.  A part of your accreditation agreement is an “Individual Trainer Acknowledgement” document, which outlines your responsibilities in delivering the program and protecting Blanchard intellectual property.

Can I be accredited as a consultant?

No.  Under our global license agreement with The Ken Blanchard Companies, we are not permitted to provide accreditation or resources to independent consultants.

What if I leave my current employer?

In order to deliver a Blanchard program, you need three things:

  • To have been a participant in the program, delivered by an authorised Blanchard facilitator – which also means you have your own participant tools and resources.
  • To have attended and been accredited in a Blanchard accreditation workshop conducted by a master trainer
  • To have a set of facilitator resources (facilitator guides, games, DVDs, posters, etc).

From our perspective, the first two things travel with you – you have demonstrated the competence to be a facilitator (assuming you’ve delivered the program regularly) and you have the participant resources.  We believe that the facilitator resources belong to your company and so do not travel with you.

When you join your next company, then, if they have current Blanchard facilitator resources for the program you’re delivering then you’re all set – just order the participant materials from Blanchard and deliver.  If your new company does not have Blanchard facilitator resources, or they’re not current, you’ll need to purchase a set prior to delivering the program – but you don’t need to be reaccredited, provided that you’re current.

Remember, though, if you leave your current employer to become a consultant/contractor, you are no longer authorised to deliver Blanchard intellectual property.

Can I advertise my accreditation?

If you’re applying for a position with another company (other than a consulting/contracting company), you are welcome to add your accreditation to your list of qualifications.  An accredited Blanchard facilitator is an asset to any organisation!  If you become an independent contractor, of course, you may not advertise your accreditation by any means.

I was accredited overseas, will you recognise my accreditation in Australia?

All accredited facilitators receive a certificate of accreditation, regardless of where they undertook their training.  We’ll be happy to recognise your accreditation on presentation of your certificate.  We can then validate it with the country in which you were accredited.

Will my accreditation be recognised overseas?

Each Blanchard International partner is an independent organisation.  We can only guarantee that your accreditation will be recognised in Australia, but will be happy to verify your credentials to any of our international partners.

Does my accreditation expire?

Provided that you deliver programs regularly, and that you remain current with the facilitator and participant resources for your programs, we will be happy to continue to recognise your accreditation.

Like all knowledge though, if you don’t deliver a program for several years, your knowledge can become “rusty” and your materials may well be out of date.  If that happens, call us to discuss how we can bring back your “showroom shine” and get you current again. Remember we are continually developing and improving our course materials, and update sessions are conducted whenever major changes happen.

Can I reproduce Blanchard copyrighted materials?

No.  All Blanchard materials are protected by copyright and you may not duplicate any of them, by any means, for any reason, at any time.  Neither may you create derivative works (e.g. summarising programs for brevity) or translate them into another language.  If you have a need to do any of these sorts of things, call us and we can help.
